It's nice to meet you here.

I want to invite you to join me in this journey of learning to dwell and thrive in the spacious place.

What is the spacious place?

Glad you asked!

In 2017, I found myself completely burnt out from ministry leadership. It was the eighth year of launching the nation’s first faith-based residential care home for teenage girls who had been trafficked. I have many interesting and encouraging stories to share from that journey, and I’ll be telling more about some of those moments in future posts!

Back to the burn out...

For months, the Lord had been speaking to me about the "spacious place," but I kept wrestling with questions—what exactly does that look like, and how do I enter it? How do I remain there? On September 16, 2017 in my morning Bible reading and quiet time, I felt the Holy Spirit urging me to grab a pen. I sensed God was about to reveal what the spacious place truly meant. As I listened, I simply wrote down what I heard.

Here’s what came out...

In the spacious place there is no fear. There is no anxiety. The spacious place is a place of being still and rest, although more happens in the spacious place than your busiest of days. The enemy is defeated in the spacious place. The wisdom you need to make decisions is provided in the spacious place. Blessings flow freely in the spacious place. Tents are raised in the spacious place and my people were made to dwell there. Daily manna is provided there. Seeds planted in the spacious place bear much fruit. They do not wither. The river of God flows in the spacious place. You must lay down your life to enter into the spacious place. You must give up all fleshly desires and become one with me. Not many dwell there because you must continuously abide in me to remain. Some only get a glimpse of the spacious place. Some enter but do not dwell, they turn and go back to their own ways of doing things.

The spacious place is an intense place because much is required of you to dwell there. You must sacrifice to dwell there but the gain is far greater than anything you can imagine. I have given you the key to the spacious place but it's your choice to dwell or not to dwell. Time and energy spent on things outside of the spacious place bear no fruit and will only take you further away from the spacious place. You are at a critical place where you must evaluate every opportunity to see if it will require you to leave the spacious place or not. Distractions try to pull you away. The enemy tries to lure you away. Good intended men try to pull you away. You can invite others to join you in the spacious place, but you should not leave to join them outside of the spacious place. Some will want nothing to do with the spacious place because of their fleshly desires. The spacious place is just that...it's spacious. You are not confined there. You are not limited there. Abundant life happens in the spacious place.

Today, November 22, 2024, as I launch this blog, I find myself on a pilgrimage in Italy. I’ve been here for two months, with just under a month left. During this time, the Lord has been revealing more and more about my future and calling in this new season of life.

Now, more than ever, I long to remain in the spacious place.

I invite you to join me on this journey as I share stories, journal entries, photography, and lessons learned from my daily life. Through this blog, we’ll explore the distractions, challenges, and choices we encounter, and encourage one another to continually return to the place of peace where God’s river flows, and His blessings are abundant.

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells." Psalm 46:4

The spacious place is not confined or limited—it is a place of true freedom. It’s where we are meant to dwell. And in this space, you will experience the abundant life God has planned for you.

Thank you for being here.
